Talking about the HORTICULTURE India is the Largest Producer of fruits and Second largest producer of vegetables in the world rankings.
With the use of old methodology and mixing it with the technology India has overtaken US and became the world's largest producer of MILK.
With the involvement of technology and Science in the Fisheries department a sudden growth took place and the production which was 6,00,000 tonnes of fish is now almost 5 and a half million tonnes, making India third largest producer in the world.
Considering the medical field the developments have been made tremendously  cure of almost all diseases is available in India the cure rate has increased to twice as it was some decades back.
India is now standing fourth in the PHARMACY INDUSTRY in the world.
Electrical Engineering is one of the most important department which helps a lot in the development of the nation. Just after India got independence the Installed power capacity in India was around 1360 MW and looking now Indians have built more that 4000 Dams and half of them have been built in between 1971-89 they help in Power Generation and also in the Irrigation and as on March 31, 2010 Installed Capacity is 159398.49 mega watt (MW).

Computer Science- India has made its own Supercomputer "Cluster Platform 3000 BL460c, Xeon 53xx 3GHz,Infiniband" which is the fourth fastest in the World.
